TRC ENGINEERING 1

This picture shows the Technical control position from which the operation of the computer could be supervised and controlled. The configuration switch panel is on the left. In the rear can be seen the moving head disk files, two disks per cabinet. More importantly it is Mike Accott sitting at the desk.

The picture below shows Ken Hamer standing at the processor control panel in one of the three processors

This third picture shows the test telegram transmission and reception area. Specially prepared telegrams were transmitted to the processors under test from the automatic transmitters (on the right) and were printed out on the appropriate teleprinter for checking. Approximately 60,000 test telegrams were produced to incorporate into tests to cover all types of telegram handling. A number of engineers and a large team of operations people were involved in testing the TRC. The people in this photograph are John Percival and I think Steve Desa. The operations team included Stan Auton, Stan Ludlow, Doug McGowan, Jimmy Gould and others whose names escape me.
